THE BOOK OF DEUTERONOMY |
But the LORD has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, from Egypt, to be a people for His own possession. -- 4:20 For the LORD your God is a consuming fire. -- 4:24 But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul. -- 4:29 For the LORD your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them. -- 4:31 Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! -- 6:4 You shall love the LORD your
God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You
shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you
sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and
when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and
they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them
on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but because the LORD loved you ... -- 7:7 Man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD. -- 8:3 When you have eaten and are satisfied, you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you. -- 8:10 Know therefore today that it is the LORD your God who is crossing over before you as a consuming fire. -- 9:3 Now, Israel, what does the
LORD your God require from you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk
in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your
heart and with all your soul.
The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him. -- 18:15 When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out with the army nor be charged with any duty; he shall be free at home one year and shall give happiness to his wife whom he has taken. -- 24:5 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart. -- 30:14 I call heaven and earth to
witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the
blessing and the curse. So choose life ... -- 30:19
The eternal God is a dwelling

before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to give to
Now, O Israel, listen to the
statutes and the judgments which I am teaching you to perform, so that
you may live and go in and take possession of the land which the LORD,
the God of your fathers, is giving you. You shall not add to the
word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep
the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. -- 4:1-2

you do not forget the covenant of the LORD your God which He made with
you, and make for yourselves a graven image in the form of anything against

THE FORGIVENESS OF GOD I call heaven and earth to
witness against you today, that you will surely perish quickly from the
land where you are going over the Jordan to possess it. You shall not live
long on it, but will be utterly

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS "I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me. "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain. "Observe the sabbath day to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant or your ox or your donkey or any of your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you, so that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you to observe the sabbath day. "Honor

"You shall not murder. "You shall not commit adultery. "You shall not steal. "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, and you shall not desire your neighbor's house, his field or his male servant or his female servant, his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor." These
words the LORD spoke to all your assembly at the mountain from the midst
of the fire, of the cloud and of the thick gloom, with a great voice, and
He added no more. He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to
me. -- 5:6-22

THE PILGRIMAGE FESTIVALS Observe the month of Abib
and celebrate the Passover to the LORD your God, for in the month
You shall count seven weeks for yourself; you shall begin to count seven weeks from the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain. Then you shall celebrate the Feast of Weeks to the LORD your God with a tribute of a freewill offering of your hand, which you shall give just as the LORD your God blesses you; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God ... in the place where the LORD your God chooses to establish His name ... You shall celebrate the Feast
of Booths seven days after you have gathered in from your threshing floor
and your wine vat; and you shall rejoice in your feast ... Seven days you
shall celebrate a feast to the LORD your God in the place which the LORD
chooses, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and
in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.
THE SIN OF THE OCCULT There shall not be found among
you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one
who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets
omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist,
or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable
to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will
drive them out before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD
your God. For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to
those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD
your God has not allowed you to do so. -- 18:10-14
A PROPHET LIKE MOSES The LORD your God will raise
up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you
shall listen to him. This is according to all that you asked of the
LORD your God in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, "Let me not
hear again the voice of the LORD my God, let me not see this great fire
anymore, or I will die." The LORD said to me, "They have spoken well.
I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will
put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command
him. It shall come about that whoever will not listen to My words
which he shall speak in My name, I Myself will require it of him. -- 18:15-19
THE RESTORATION OF ISRAEL So it shall be when all of
these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have
set before you, and you call them to mind in all nations where the LORD
your God has banished you, and you return to the LORD your God and obey
Him with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today,
you and your sons,
CHOOSE LIFE For this commandment which
I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach.
It is not in heaven, that you should say, "Who will go up to heaven for
us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?"
Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, "Who will cross the sea
for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?"
But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you
may observe it.
I call heaven and earth to

For the LORD'S portion is His people; Jacob is the allotment of His inheritance. He found him in a desert land, And in the howling waste of a wilderness; He encircled him, He cared for him, He guarded him as the pupil of His eye. Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, That hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions. The LORD alone guided him, -- 32:9-12
