THE BLESSED MAN

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!  But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.  He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. -- 1:1-3

KING UPON ZION

But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain.  I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, "You are My Son, today I have begotten You.  Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession.  You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware." -- 2:6-9

THE LORD HEARS

I am weary with my sighing; every night I make my bed swim, I dissolve my couch with my tears.  My eye has wasted away with grief; it has become old because of all my adversaries.  Depart from me, all you who do iniquity, for the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.  The LORD has heard my supplication, the LORD receives my prayer. -- 6:6-9

HOW MAJESTIC IS YOUR NAME

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens!  From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established strength because of Your adversaries, to make the enemy and the revengeful cease.  When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained; what is man that You take thought of him, and the son of man that You care for him?  Yet You have made him a little lower than God, and You crown him with glory and majesty!  You make him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, whatever passes through the paths of the seas.  O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! -- 8:1-9

SING PRAISES TO THE LORD

Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion; declare among the peoples His deeds.  For He who requires blood remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the afflicted.  Be gracious to me, O LORD; see my affliction from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death, that I may tell of all Your praises, that in the gates of the daughter of Zion I may rejoice in Your salvation. -- 9:11-14

FIRE AND BRIMSTONE

The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates.  Upon the wicked He will rain snares; fire and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup.  For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; the upright will behold His face. -- 11:5-7

HOW LONG?

How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?  How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart all the day? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?  Consider and answer me, O LORD my God; enlighten my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death, and my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," and my adversaries will rejoice when I am shaken.  But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness; my heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.  I will sing to the LORD, because He has dealt bountifully with me. -- 13:1-6

NOT EVEN ONE

The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God."  They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; there is no one who does good.  The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.  They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. -- 14:1-3

WHO MAY ABIDE IN YOUR TENT?

O Lord, who may abide in Your tent? Who may dwell on Your holy hill?  He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, and speaks truth in his heart.  He does not slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend; in whose eyes a reprobate is despised, but who honors those who fear the LORD; he swears to his own hurt
and does not change; he does not put out his money at interest, nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken. -- 15:1-5

YOUR HOLY ONE

I have set the LORD continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.  Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will dwell securely.  For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.  You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are
pleasures forever. -- 16:8-11

THE LAW OF THE LORD

The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.  The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.  The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether.  They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.  Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward. -- 19:7-11

WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?

My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?... I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; it is melted within me.  My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaves to my jaws; and You lay me in the dust of death.  For dogs have surrounded me; a band of evildoers has encompassed me; they pierced my hands and my
feet.  I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me; they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. -- 22:1, 14-18

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.  He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. -- 23:1-6

WHO MAY ASCEND INTO THE HILL OF THE LORD?

The earth is the LORD'S, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it.  For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.  Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place?  He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood and has not sworn deceitfully.  He shall receive a blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation. -- 24:1-5

THE KING OF GLORY

Lift up your heads, O gates, and be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in!  Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.  Lift up your heads, O gates, and lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in!  Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah. -- 24:7-10

HE WILL HIDE ME

One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD and to meditate in His temple.  For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. -- 27:4-5

WAIT FOR THE LORD

When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, O LORD, I shall seek."  Do not hide Your face from me, do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation!  For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me up ... I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.  Wait for the LORD; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the LORD. -- 27:8-10, 13-14
