BAKED ASPARAGUS WITH PINE NUTS

1 tsp. butter
1 lb. asparagus, cleaned, with bottoms cut off
1/2 cup grated cheese--Gruyere, Swiss, Havarti, or parmesan
3 Tbsp. pine nuts, roasted or sauted in oil
1 Tbsp. olive oil

     Melt butter in ovenproof pan with lid.  Line up 
     asparagus with tips facing in one direction.  Add 
     3 Tbsp. water and cover.  Steam for 2 minutes over 
     medium heat.  Remove from heat and sprinkle 
     cheese over top.  Strew pine nuts over cheese, 
     and dribble with olive oil.  Bake, uncovered, at 
     350* for 5 minutes.

     Makes 4 servings.
